This ministry is an outreach to internationals in Indiana. 

Our educational goal of the ministry is to help internationals to become confident and successful in using their English skills for classes and for daily living.  We also help them to adjust to living in Indiana.

Our ministry goal is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with international people here in Indiana, and to give them time to respond to the message.  After students have come to Christ, our goal is to disciple them, teach them the Bible, and incorporate them into the Body of Christ.

Our method of reaching students is to build relationships with them, as we help them improve their English skills.  We follow the Lord's leading on bringing Him into our conversations and lessons.  Many times students will ask to study the Bible with us, and this is a great way to teach them and point them to Jesus.

We match internationals to volunteers from our church who are willing to become conversation partners.  The conversation partners usually meet weekly or every other week, at a time and place that is convenient for both of them.  The volunteers will determine what the English needs are for their student.  Most times the student will just want to talk, in order to work on their vocabulary and pronunciation and word usage.  Sometimes they want specific help with grammar or writing.

The time commitment for volunteers is small, with minimal preparation.  This ministry is great for those who have a heart for reaching out to people from other countries.  We've enjoyed working with students from Taiwan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Costa Rica, Burkina Faso, Tajikistan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia.

The ministry also provides occasional social activities, which are open to all ELM students and their families and friends.  We have had graduation parties, Christmas parties, sled-riding, visits to Reeger's pumpkin festival, picnics and more.
