Indiana Alliance Church

The Christian and Missionary Alliance was founded as a missionary society in 1887.  Our founder, Dr. A.B. Simpson had a passion to encourage evangelical Christians from various denominations to support worldwide evangelization. Trained to serve as a Presbyterian pastor, Dr. Simpson served three Presbyterian churches (one in Canada and two in the United States). His last church was in New York city. He eventually left in order to start the New York City Gospel Tabernacle. This was an independent church with a wide-ranging ministry both in the heart of New York city and eventually to other parts of the world.

The Christian and Missionary Alliance eventually grew beyond a missionary sending agency and became the missionary-focused denomination that it is today with over 800 missionaries supported by Alliance churches in the US. The C&MA also has roots in the deeper life movements of the 19^th century.

Today, the C&MA has more than four million members worldwide and continues to work in cooperation with other evangelical, Bible-believing denominations and fellowships in more than 60 countries in order to see the gospel spread around the world.

Doctrinally, the C&MA holds that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and that salvation is found only through faith in Jesus Christ who gave his life on the cross of Calvary to provide forgiveness of our sins and the free gift of eternal life to all who will believe (Romans 3:23-26; 6:23). We believe that the church is both local and universal and is made up of all those who have received Jesus Christ as Savior and are born again by the Holy Spirit (John 1:11-13; 3:3,16).

We believe that Jesus is coming again to set up his kingdom on this earth (Revelation 22:7). As Christians we are committed to serving Christ until he returns through the ongoing use of our spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-6). To that end, it is our desire as a church to “proclaim the glory of God as our first priority, the sufficiency of Christ for all of life and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit”.
